Man Defrauds Disabled Worker At Vienna Giant: Police
Vienna Police say the suspect gave a fraudulent check in exchange for cash to the disabled worker.

VIENNA, VA—Vienna Police are investigating a case of fraud that targeted a disabled employee at Giant Food.
According to the latest police report, a resident reported that her son was a potential victim of fraud in April. Her son, a disabled employee at the 359 Maple Avenue East Giant Food, gave the suspect cash in exchange for a check made payable to another person. The employee later asked for the money back, but the man refused to give the full amount back. Police did not disclose the amount of money involved.
The man and his wife met with police and complained that the fraudulent check was not returned to them. Police said the case remains active, as they're investigating another case of the couple defrauding another person.

No charges have been announced. Giant Food management says the couple is no longer permitted on its property. They would be charged with trespass if they returned.

April 29 at 8:00 a.m.
A resident received a phone call from a company who said they could fix issues with his computer,
but he would need to pay them in Google Play Cards purchased from CVS. The resident declined,
then later noticed that money had been removed from his PayPal account. This case is being
investigated.
Unlawful Entry 18-003762
400 Block Marshall Road, SW
May 2 12:19 p.m.
A resident returned home to find that the rear door to her home was not completely shut. Upon
reviewing her security system she observed a UtiliQuest employee walking around the house, then
exiting the rear door. MPO Lose located the employee who advised he was at the house to mark
utilities when he thought he heard a noise and smelled gas coming from the home. The employee
found an unsecure window and checked the home for issues. After finding no problems he left the
home. This case is being investigated.
Crash 18-003806
133 Maple Avenue, East
May 3 4:09 p.m.
Vehicle-1 was attempting to make a left turn onto Maple Avenue from private property. Driver-1
was unable to see Vehicle-2 approaching in the left lane due to traffic stopped in the right lane.
As vehicle-1 entered the roadway it was struck by Vehicle-2.
The airbags on Vehicle-2 deployed causing Driver-2 believed her vehicle was on fire. She exited
her vehicle without putting the vehicle in park resulting in accident #18-003807. Driver-2 showed
visible signs of non-life-threatening injuries.

Cedar Lane School
101 Cedar Lane, SW
May 7 10/21 a.m.
Officers responded to a report of two juvenile students walking away from the school. The students were located transported them back to the school. One of the students complied with the school staff, the other student became belligerent and her grandmother was notified to come pick her up. The juvenile then became uncooperative and disorderly, refusing to leave with her grandmother. During the incident the juvenile kicked the principal. MPO Borja arrested the juvenile on charges of assault and transported her to the Fairfax County Juvenile Intake where she was released to the custody of her grandmother.
Assist EMS 18-003925
600 Block Frederick Street, SW
May 7 6:56 p.m.
Officers responded to a report of CPR in progress on a 25-year-old woman who had overdosed
and was now unresponsive. EMS personnel were able to resuscitate the woman and she was
transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening issues.
Animal Case 18-004010
1100 Ware Street, SW
May 10 7:21 p.m.
A resident advised they found a baby raccoon in their shed and her daughter picked it up. The
resident was concerned the animal may be sick and that her daughter may have been exposed. The
officer transported the baby raccoon to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter where the animal was
euthanized for rabies testing. ACO Barker will follow up on this case.
Crash 18-003838
Maple Avenue near Niblick Drive, NE
May 4 3:02 p.m.
Vehicle-1 (a tractor trailer) was traveling westbound on Maple Avenue when the driver fell asleep
at the wheel and ran onto the median, striking a street sign and small tree before returning to the
roadway.
Driver-1 was issued a summons charging Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention.

820 Follin Lane, SE
May 5 12:55 p.m.
Vehicle-1 was attempting to park in the parking lot at the Navy Federal Credit Union. The driver
suffered a medical emergency causing him to drive off the lot, through some bushes, a metal fence,
fixed light post, and into the side of the building.
