Monday in Tysons: Gov. McAuliffe Signs Food Truck Legislation
Del. Eileen Filler-Corn introduced the legislation after she was approached by the business community.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe was set to visit Tyson’s Corner today to hold a ceremonial bill signing for food truck legislation introduced by Del. Eileen Filler-Corn’s, according to a news release from the governor’s office.
The signing was set to take place at Greensboro Pop-up Park at The Boro, at the corner of Greensboro Drive and Solutions Drive in Tyson’s Corner.
Bill HB 2042 requires the Commonwealth Transportation Board to promulgate regulations for food trucks to operate within certain state maintained right-of-way roads, according to Filler-Corn’s office.

Filler-Corn introduced the legislation after she was approached by the business community, including the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce, the Tyson’s Partnership in Tyson’s Corner and the Food Truck Association.
Since the Commonwealth owns and maintains many of the roads in Virginia, VDOT must develop regulations to permit certain types of vending on these roads. HB 2042 will begin the process of allowing food trucks to operate in certain approved areas, such as Tyson’s Corner.

This bill was the result of hard work and collaboration between all parties, including the Food Truck Association, Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, VDOT and Fairfax County. All of the stakeholders came together to develop and agree on the language that was passed by the General Assembly.
Joining McAuliffe and Filler-Corn will be Jim Corcoran, president and CEO of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, members of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, other area elected officials and members of the business community in Tyson’s Corner.
