Peaceful Racial Justice Protests Held In Vienna
At least two events are planned Wednesday in Vienna after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody.
VIENNA, VA — Two peaceful protests were held Wednesday in Vienna in response to the police-involved death of African American man George Floyd in Minneapolis.
Both events encouraged social distancing and face masks on the Town Green. The first protest is a small Black Lives Matter event held at noon. The event is geared toward those who cannot attend larger protests due to coronavirus concerns, according to the event poster. Participants were asked to bring water and food as well as maintain distance from others.
The second protest happened from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Protesters rallied for racial justice and held a vigil in memory of Floyd. Face masks, signs and social distancing were encouraged.

There have been a mix of peaceful and violent protests in response to Floyd's death across the U.S. Tuesday protests outside Alexandria and Fairfax County police headquarters remained peaceful.
Thank you to everyone that attended the demonstration this evening outside APD HQ. Our Chief and Asst. Chief (and many officers) were able to have some very powerful and much-needed conversations with those that attended. We stand with you. #BlackLivesMattter pic.twitter.com/KLBKjjFnfv
