Resident Finds Suspicious Tracks in the Snow: Police
Here's a look at some of the incidents reported in this week's crime report from the local police.

VIENNA, VA — Following last week's snowstorm, an unknown intruder left footprints in the snow in the backyard of a resident's home, prompting the town police to investigate the scene, according to a police repor
The suspicious event was reported in the 100 block of Tapawingo Road SW, and the tracks were left between March 15 at 7 a.m. and March 18 at 11 a.m., the police said.
A resident saw that a gate leading to the rear of his house was open, the police said. Upon checking the backyard, he found footprints in the snow and marks on the door jamb. No entry was made to the residence and nothing else appeared to have been disturbed.

The following are other incidents reported by police in their weekly report released Friday:
Assist EMS 17-002259: 100 Block Cunningham Park Court SE March 11 4:06 a.m. Officers responded to assist rescue with a juvenile in need of medical assistance. The juvenile was transported to an area hospital for further assessment.
Lost Property 17-002422: Bank of America, 235 Maple Ave. W March 16 2 p.m. A citizen reported losing personal documents while at the bank.
Trespassing 17-002424: Walgreens, 225 Maple Ave. E March 17 4:02 p.m. An employee reported a group of juveniles in the store acting disorderly and refusing to leave. The juveniles left the area before police arrived.
Petit Larceny 17-002427: Vienna Post Office, 200 Lawyers Road NW March 17 5 p.m. A citizen advised that while she was in the Post Office, an unknown person smashed the passenger side window of her vehicle and stole her purse.
Destruction of Property 17-002442: The Wolftrap Hotel, 430 Maple Ave. W March 18 2:19 a.m. A citizen observed a man throw a rock at a vehicle that was parked in the lot. The man was located by officers; however, the vehicle owner was undecided if he would pursue charges.
Drunk In Public 17-002470: 200 Block Cedar Lane SE March 19 5:35 p.m. Officers responded to the report of an intoxicated man in the area of the shopping center. MPO Shaw located the man and placed him under arrest. The 49-year-old man from the 200 Block Cedar Lane SE, Vienna, was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with Drunk In Public.
Suspicious Event 17-002524: The Wolftrap Hotel, 430 Maple Ave. W Between March 19 at 9 p.m. and March 20 at 9 a.m. A citizen reported damage to a vehicle she was renting. She had left the vehicle legally parked in the parking lot. When she returned to the vehicle she observed minor damage. Ofc. Hylinski found some of the damage was old. The other damage the citizen observed was very minimal from something brushing against the vehicle. None of the damage appeared to be from a deliberate act.
Arrest – Narcotics Violation 17-002475: 400 Block Maple Avenue E March 20 1:32 a.m. Ofc. Reedy observed a vehicle with improper equipment and initiated a traffic stop. Upon his interaction with the driver, he detected the odor of marijuana. The driver was found to be in possession of a measurable amount of marijuana. Ofc. Reedy issued a summons to the 22-year-old man from Longview Court NE, Vienna, charging Possession of Marijuana. He was released on his signature.
Police Service 17-002510: The Hope Center, 140 Park St. SE March 21 1:07 p.m. A citizen reported a suspicious man in a vehicle following her. Officers located and identified the man who was conducting business in the area.
Telephone Case 17-002550: 200 Block Cedar Lane SE March 21 between 9:56 p.m. and 10:59 p.m. A resident received suspicious telephone calls from an individual claiming to be a police detective.
Assist Fire & Rescue 17-002559: 100 Block Maple Avenue East March 22 6:02 p.m. Officers responded to assist the Fire Department with a fire that began in one of the restaurants at the shopping center.
Crash - East Street at Hine Street SE 17-002479: March 20 8:07 p.m. One vehicle was traveling east on Hine Street through the intersection of East Street SE. A second vehicle was traveling northbound on East Street. The second driver failed to yield the right of way and struck the first vehicle in the intersection. The second driver was issued a summons charging Fail to Pay Full Time and Attention.
