Routine Stop Before Work Leads To Top Lottery Prize For Vienna Man
Following a routine before work paid off for a Vienna man who won a $1 million top prize in a lottery scratch ticket game.
VIENNA, VA — Vienna's George Katan doesn't typically stray from his routine of buying a sandwich and lottery scratch ticket on the way to work. That routine recently paid off as Katan won a $1 million lottery prize.
The top prize in the Multiplier Mania ticket came from a ticket bought at a 7-Eleven at 1931 Old Gallows Road in Vienna.
"I know it was big, but I didn’t know how big," Katan told the Virginia Lottery about his win.

The Multiplier Mania game's prizes range from $20 to $1 million. Katan had the option of the $1 million prize in annual payments over 30 years or a one-time cash option of $625,000 before taxes, and he selected the cash option.
The 7-Eleven store also won a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Katan's was the second top prize claimed in the game, and one remained unclaimed. The chances of winning the top prize are 1 in 979,200, while the chances of winning any prize are 1 in 3.26.
