Smashed Truck Window, Power Washer Flipped: Vienna Crime Report
Vienna police officers responded to early-morning fights at a downtown bar and an apartment complex where residents were holding a party.

VIENNA, VA — Officers from the town of Vienna Police Department responded to early morning fights at a downtown bar and an apartment complex where residents were holding a party.
A Vienna man was arrested for public drunkenness last Friday after he attempted to punch a woman at the Bear Branch Tavern in Vienna. The incident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 6.
A person broke up the fight and helped the man out of the bar. When Vienna police officers spoke to the man, they detected signs of impairment. The 29-year-old man, from Oak Valley Drive, was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with being drunk in public.

In the early hours of Sunday, Vienna officers responded to the report of a fight outside a party at an apartment in the 200 block of Cedar Lane SE. At about 3:30 a.m., officers saw a driver in a pickup truck trying to back out of a parking space while he was being assaulted by a man, according to the police department.
The man had smashed the window of the truck with a piece of lumber and began to assault the driver. Another man was in the parking lot holding a gun. Officers determined the gun was a BB gun and that he was the owner of the vehicle.

Fire and rescue personnel transported the man in the pickup tuck to an area hospital with injuries from which he is expected to survive. Rescue personnel also responded to evaluate two others at the party, an infant who was sick and a woman in need of medical assistance.
Police arrested a 37-year-old man from Charles Thompson Lane in Annandale. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with assault and destruction of property.
Around 1:15 p.m. Thursday, an employee of Zoës Kitchen on Maple Avenue told police that a man who had previously caused problems at the restaurant had again entered the restaurant and began screaming at one of the employees. The man then attempted to assault the employee, according to police.
Another employee came to assist his co-worker and forced the man out of the restaurant. Police officers advised the man that he would be arrested if he returned to the property. The police advised the employee of the warrant process if she wished to pursue charges.
On Monday, at an apartment complex in the 200 block of Locust Street SE, a resident came out of her apartment around 12:10 p.m. and flipped over a gas-powered power washer. The property manager of the apartment complex had hired a contractor to power wash the buildings.
The resident’s action caused the power washer to break and leak gasoline onto a grassy area. The contractor told police he did not want to pursue charges against the resident.

Aug. 7 at 1:45 p.m.
A resident reported she observed her adult son running outside her apartment toward the rear of the home. A short time later, she heard a window being smashed in her son’s bedroom and immediately called a relative and police for assistance.
While officers were investigating the damaged property, additional officers were requested to assist rescue personnel near the park at Branch Road and Locust Street with a man suffering from a laceration to the chest. It was determined that the man was the resident’s son. The man was transported by rescue personnel to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
An officer obtained a warrant charging Destruction of Property for the man. The officer then went to the hospital where the 21-year-old man from Locust Street, SE in Vienna was being treated and served the warrant on him. The man was released on his signature.

Aug. 8 at 10:19 p.m.
Officers responded to the report of an unconscious man on the sidewalk. When they arrived, they found the man was conscious and detected signs of impairment. The man refused assistance from rescue personnel.
An officer arrested the 22-year-old man from Ellison Street in Falls Church. The officer found narcotics in the man’s possession during the arrest, and a wanted check on him showed active warrants in Falls Church and Chesterfield County. The man was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with Drunk In Public and Possession of a Schedule I or II Drug. The warrants from Falls Church charging Failure to Appear on Possession of a Schedule I or II Drug, and Chesterfield County’s charging Failure to Report for Drug/Alcohol Testing were served on him as well.

A man reported he believes his brother may have stolen some of his clothing and shoes from his room. A protective order against this man prevents him from entering his home, so he is uncertain if the property has been taken. However, a neighbor advised him that she saw the brother removing some property from the residence.
