Dominion Restores Power to Hundreds in Vienna Tuesday After Sunday Storm

An outage map from Dominion estimated power would be restored Tuesday to hundreds in Vienna between 5-11 p.m.

Dominion Power has restored power to 1,000 homes in Vienna. Power outages began in the area Sunday night and continued for some into Tuesday.

Several roads were closed Monday during repairs. On Tuesday the Town of Vienna reported that the last road closed in the area was Tapawingo Road, from Meadow Lane to Ware Street, where a power line was entangled in a tree that fell. The Town was waiting for Dominion to remove the line before the tree could be removed.

Hundreds of residents in the Vienna area woke up Tuesday in the dark without power, after a Sunday evening winter storm left trees iced, bringing down power lines. Snow is falling Tuesday morning in the area.

A Dominion Power outage map showed hundreds still without power Tuesday, down from about 1,000 on Monday. According to information on the map, power was to be restored to those without power in Vienna between 5-11 p.m. Tuesday.

The number of Dominion customers in various Northern Virginia locations without power Tuesday morning were:

  • Alexandria: 217
  • Arlington: 396
  • Fairfax City: 525
  • Fairfax County: 6,223
  • Falls Church: 51
  • Loudoun County: 3
As of Tuesday at midnight, that number was down to less than 400 in Northern Virginia.

Was your power out? How long did you wait before it was back on? What did you do while it was out?
