Unlocked Car Stolen In Vienna After Keys Left Inside: Police

Vienna Police saw a spike in car break-ins in a recent week.

VIENNA, VA—Vienna Police have a warning for residents after an unlocked car was stolen and numerous break-ins were reported within the last few weeks.

A resident in the 100 Block of Wolftrap Road SE reported the stolen car to police late last week. Police say the unlocked car had the keys in the glovebox when the suspect stole it. A green mountain bike is missing from the stolen car.

The resident reported the suspect also got into a second vehicle but did not take anything. The suspect likely struck between 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 12 and 7 a.m. on Friday, July 13.

Separately, another resident reported his vehicle had been taken from the driveway. The crime happened in the 1000 Block of Echols Street SE between 7 p.m. July 12 at 7 p.m. and 3 p.m. on July 14. Police did not say if the vehicle was secured.

A citizen advised he returned to his parked vehicle to find a woman standing next to it with his
driver’s side door open. The woman quickly got into the passenger side of a vehicle parked next
to his, and the two occupants drove away. Nothing appeared to have been taken from the citizen’s
vehicle.
