Vienna Choral Society Celebrates the Winter Solstice
Group will partner with the Women's Center Of Vienna for a unique winter "concert for a cause."

Tickets are now on sale for the Vienna Choral Society's Solstice: Light And Dark – A Concert For A Cause, scheduled for 4:30 pm, Saturday at Vienna Baptist Church.
The Vienna Choral Society will partner with the Women’s Center Of Vienna for this unique winter “concert for a cause.”
This concert, which falls on the day of the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year, will draw attention to some of the unique mental health challenges at this traditionally happy and festive season, said Sohini Baliga, executive producer, Vienna Choral Society.
"It can be a time of sadness, literally for those who suffer SAD, but it can also be a time of great community, coming together, and immense hope. Lifting us up and carrying us all back to light and health as the seasons shift and the days grow longer."
"We are delighted to partner with The Women's Center of Vienna to raise awareness of the issue and approaches that assist with mental health self-care, and to the natural ebb and flow of dark and light in our lives, Baliga said.
"It promises to be an evening of gorgeous music including pieces such as a traditional 17th century carol, Eric Whitacre's modern American classic "Lux Aurumque," and the breathtaking Appalachian folk song "Bright Morning Stars," she noted. "And our winter concert is always followed by a hot chocolate and cookies reception. The hot chocolate mix comes from one of our altos' recipe books, and the cookies and treats will be catered by Whole Foods Vienna."
