Vienna Crime: Stolen Vehicles, Suspicious Persons, Vandalism + More
The week in crime in the Town of Vienna, from the Town of Vienna Police Department weekly crime report.

The following summary contains various incidents of general interest as well as vehicular crashes handled by the Town of Vienna, Virginia Police Department from June 12, 2015 – June 18, 2015. Readers are reminded that an “arrest” is based upon probable cause and does not always mean that someone was physically taken into custody. Furthermore, it does not mean that an individual is automatically guilty of a crime. Judicial outcomes and post-arrest proceedings can be researched through the appropriate court’s website.

INCIDENTS
Found Property 15-005995 100 Block East Street, SE Between June 09 at 8:00 a.m. and June 16 at 12:00 p.m. MPO Shaw responded to the area after a resident reported a Huffy brand bicycle had been abandoned on their property.

The bike will be held until the owner can be identified.
Telephone Case 15-005866 200 Block Manvell Road, SE June 12 between 9:00 a.m. and 8:08 p.m. A resident reported her ex-husband had been leaving harassing and vulgar messages on her telephone.
She stated she did not wish to pursue charges at this time.
Suspicious Person 15-005864 Windover Avenue at Pleasant Street, NW June 12 4:32 p.m. PFC Tracy responded to the area for the report of a driver who had stopped his vehicle in the roadway and was blocking traffic. Upon locating the vehicle the driver exited his vehicle and began yelling and acting in an irrational manner. While PFC’s Tracy and Lyons were attempting to calm the driver he began to suffer from a suspected medical emergency.
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel were summoned to the scene and transported the driver to an area hospital for treatment.
Stolen Auto 15-005883 1100 Block Westbriar Court, NE Between June 12 at 9:30 p.m. and June 13 at 1:48 a.m. A resident reported his vehicle had been stolen from his driveway.
This case is being investigated.
Open Door 15-005870 100 Block Pleasant Street, NW June 12 9:48 p.m. PFC Kiley responded to a residence after a citizen noticed the front door had been left open.
Sgt. Elias and PFC Kiley searched the residence and nothing appeared suspicious or disturbed.
Civil Case 15-005913 Wolf Trap Hotel 430 Maple Avenue, West June 13 7:24 p.m. An employee reported a guest had become irate and began cursing at him after being refused a refund on his room.
The guest had left the hotel prior to the arrival of the police officer. The employee stated he did not wish to pursue the incident further.
Telephone Case 15-005938 Wendy’s 411 Maple Avenue, East June 14 between 9:26 a.m. and 11:09 a.m. An employee reported she had been receiving harassing telephone calls from a former employer.
MPO Shaver contacted the caller and counselled him on ceasing contact with the employee. She was informed of the warrant process should she decide to pursue the incident.
Arrest – Warrant Service 15-005944 Maple Avenue at Beulah Road, NE June 14 7:00 p.m. Officer Lyons was notified by the Anderson County (Tennessee) Sheriff’s Department in regard to a warrant that had been issued for an individual who was known to be living in the Town of Vienna.
Officer Lyons located the 23 year old man from Westbriar Court in Vienna in the area of Maple Avenue and Beulah Road, NE. The man was arrested, without incident, and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was to be held pending his extradition back to Tennessee.
Case Update:
On June 17 Officer Lyons was informed the charge against the man had been dropped and he was released from the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Assault 15-005963 100 Block Patrick Street, SE June 15 10:19 a.m. A resident reported he and a female acquaintance had been involved in an argument that escalated when she threw a cigarette ashtray at him. He stated he grabbed her by the arms in an attempt to restrain her from throwing anything.
MPO Hall responded and spoke with everyone involved who stated they did not wish to pursue charges and would go to separate rooms to allow for a cooling off period.
Vandalism 15-005971 Machine Aquatics Swimming School 204 Mill Street, NE June 15 between 2:00 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. A citizen reported she had parked her vehicle in the parking lot and when she returned she discovered it had been vandalized.
This case is active.
Arrest – Trespassing 15-005893 Capital One Bank 246 Maple Avenue, East June 16 5:49 a.m. Officer Herrera was on patrol when he observed an individual sitting in her vehicle in the parking lot. Officer Herrera had prior knowledge that the individual had been advised she was not permitted on the property.
The 50 year old woman, with no fixed address, was issued a summons for Trespassing and released.
Fraud 15-005992 300 Block Valeview Court, NW June 16 11:11 a.m. A resident reported she received a telephone call from an individual claiming to be her grandson. The caller stated he had been on a trip to Mexico and claimed he had been arrested for having Marijuana in his vehicle and needed money to post his bail.
The resident stated she recognized this to be a scam and hung up her telephone.
Fraud 15-006000 300 Block John Marshall Drive, NE June 16 between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. A resident reported she received a telephone call from an individual claiming to be employed with the IRS. The caller stated the resident had not filed a previous year’s tax return and therefore a warrant for her arrest had been issued.
The resident was informed to withdraw money from her bank account and then call the individual back.
The resident sensed this was a scam and hung up on the caller.
Grand Larceny 15-005998 Chipotle Restaurant 213 Maple Avenue, East June 16 1:34 p.m. An employee reported a customer had entered the restaurant and taken her lanyard with her home and car keys attached. She stated the customer purchased a Burrito, left the restaurant, then returned to the restaurant a second time, stood by the register, and took the lanyard before leaving the restaurant.
This case is being investigated.
Arrest – Drunk in Public 15-006007 Maple Avenue at Nutley Street, SW June 16 8:26 p.m. Officer Herrera responded to the area for the report of a possibly intoxicated individual who had stumbled and fallen in the roadway. Upon arriving in the area he located the individual stumbling while walking towards the McDonald’s.
Officer Herrera approached the individual and determined he was intoxicated. As a result of his intoxication he arrested the 49 year old man, with no fixed address, for Drunk in Public.
He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was to be held until he was sober.
Assault 15-006011 100 Block Branch Road, SE June 16 9:25 p.m. A citizen stated he was sitting in his mother’s parked vehicle when two men approached him. He stated one of the men asked if he could take the car for a joy ride. When he said no the man pulled him from the car. He told the two men he was going to call the police and they fled the area.
This case is being investigated.
Found Property 15-006025 Vienna Police Station 215 Center Street, South June 17 10:28 a.m. A citizen responded to the Vienna Police Station to turn in a wallet he had found.
The wallet will be held until the owner can be located.
Arrest – Narcotics Violation/Petit Larceny 15-006034 Vienna Rexall Drug Center 150 Maple Avenue, West June 17 7:49 p.m. An employee reported another employee had been observed taking pills from a prescription bottle that had been prepared for a customer.
Officer Lyons responded and after speaking with the employee she learned he had also ingested the pills prior to her arrival. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel were summoned to determine if the employee was in any danger from ingesting the pills and determined he did not require treatment.
Officer Lyons arrested the 28 year old man from West Oak Place in Vienna for Petit Larceny and Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and held on a $2,000.00 bond.
