Wawa Seeks To Modify Former Office Building In Vienna
Wawa proposed changes to the current building, a former real estate office.

VIENNA, VA—The proposed Wawa in Vienna is working to secure approval on modifications to the building it would locate in. The Board of Architectural Review will review Wawa's proposed exterior modifications to the building, a vacant office space, on Thursday, Feb. 21.
The store would be located at 465 Maple Ave West, which is on the corner of Nutley Street. First constructed in 1974, the building was the former location of a Coldwell Banker office.
Modifications would include additional landscaping, construction of a new trash enclosure, new wall signage and a refurbished monument sign, according to a memo from town staff. Wawa plans to add a pedestrian path and patio on the Nutley Street and Maple Avenue corner and paint the red brick building charcoal gray.

The Wawa store would have two entrances, including one from the pedestrian path connecting Nutley Street and the parking lot. Submitted plans indicate the store would have a food service area, sales area, restrooms, seating and 42 parking spaces.
Wawa had work sessions with the board to discuss the proposed exterior modifications on Dec. 7, 2018 and Feb. 1. Board of Architectural Review approvals are separate from the building permit approval process.
