Window Decorating Contest Entries Sought In Vienna

VIENNA, VA — The Town of Vienna's Business Liaison Committee announced details for the 2019 holiday window decorating contest. The effort aims to bring holiday cheer and encourage shoppers to support local businesses during the holiday season.

Businesses are invited to sign up for the third annual contest. The theme for this year is "Home for the Holidays." Photos of finalists’ window displays will be posted on Town of Vienna social media accounts and newsletters.

Displays should be up by Friday, Nov. 29. A panel of judges will visit displays on the weekend of Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Window displays will be rated based on how they represent Vienna's brand, which describes the community as "nurturing, exuberant, and unexpected."

Winners will be announced at the Church Street Holiday Stroll on Monday, Dec. 2. Mayor Laurie DiRocco will offer one hour as a volunteer employee to the winning business during the holiday shopping season. Last year's winner was Bards Alley for a Polar-Express-themed storefront display.

The registration deadline is Friday, Nov. 22. Businesses can register at 2019-vienna-holiday-windows.eventbrite.com.
