Woman Kicked In Face During Vienna Robbery: Police

Police later caught the suspect, who reportedly admitted to breaking into cars.

VIENNA, VA—Vienna Police are pursuing juvenile petitions for a person who allegedly attacked a woman and broke into cars Sunday, Jan. 20.

The woman had been walking in the 400 block of Maple Avenue West between 3:30 a.m. and 4:38 a.m. when the male suspect attacked. Police say the suspect knocked the victim down and kicked her several times while stealing her purse and cell phone. The victim was taken to the hospital with facial injuries.

Around 6:40 a.m., a worker at the 527 Maple Avenue West 7-Eleven reported a person matching the suspect description. Police say the juvenile admitted to vehicle break-ins that same morning in the 1100 block of Moorefield Creek Road SW. One resident reported someone entered two of his vehicles between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. Upon further investigation, officers found two other vehicles that were broken into. Loose change was the only thing stolen in all in the cases.

Police took the juvenile was transported to the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center as a runaway. Petitions are pending for other offenses.

A citizen parked their vehicle in the rear parking lot. When he returned to the vehicle, he found that an unknown person forced entry into the car and took his wallet that he had left in the center console.

A woman entered the store, filled a basket with unknown merchandise, then left the store without paying for the merchandise.

Crash - John Marshall Drive and Glyndon Street, NE 19-000687

January 18 4:10 p.m.
Vehicle-1 (a tractor trailer) was traveling westbound on John Marshall Drive, turning right onto Glyndon Street, NE. The trailer ran off the right side of the roadway, running over several street signs and disabling the trailer.
The driver was issued a summons charging Improper Turn.

January 19 between 12:00 p.m. and 1:15 p.m.
A citizen went to the CVS to purchase Green Dot money cards after she received a call at her business from someone claiming to be with Dominion Power and threatening to cut off their electricity unless the employee obtained the Green Dot cards. An employee at CVS recognized the scam and intervened.

Officers responded to assist the fire department with a building fire. Several intersections in the area were shut down to traffic, allowing multiple fire vehicles to respond. No injuries were reported, and the fire was quickly extinguished.
