1. Selah Theatre Project to Open New Winchester Arts Center With 'Come From Away' (royalexaminer.com) — Winchester audiences will soon have a new arts hub as Selah Theatre Project opens the Vivienne L. Jackson Sanctuary for the Arts on North Braddock Street with the musical "Come From Away" starting Sept. 11. The nonprofit is marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with a community-focused production, and tickets are $20 with strong demand expected.
   

2. Winchester Deputies Clarke and Cowley Promoted to New Ranks (thewinchestergazette.com) — Two longtime Winchester City Sheriff's Office deputies have been promoted to key supervisory roles, with Patrick Clarke advancing to major and Cowley to sergeant. The sheriff says their combined 30 years of experience will support public safety, and residents are encouraged to congratulate them when they're out on duty around Winchester.
   

3. Winchester Police: DUI, Assault, Theft in Weekly Report (thewinchestergazette.com) — Winchester Police handled 427 calls between Aug. 10 and 16, including thefts, a DUI arrest after a crash at North Cameron and East Piccadilly, and an assault involving a pool stick on West Cork Street. Officers also arrested a woman in a fraud case and are seeking a local man after a traffic stop turned into a foot chase.
   

4. NRADC Warning: Fake Bondsmen Scamming Families of Jailed (thewinchestergazette.com) — Families of people held at Winchester's Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center are being warned about scammers posing as licensed bail bondsmen and demanding cash or digital payments. NRADC urges residents to use only its official list of approved bonding agents, avoid pressured wire or app transfers, and report any suspicious contact to the jail, Winchester Police, or Frederick County authorities.
   

5. News Maker Stacy Leach of WSPCA on an adoption special and fundraiser (theriver953.com) — The Winchester Area SPCA is planning multiple upcoming days when pet adoption fees will be waived, making it easier for local families to bring home a new companion. Adoption Operations Manager Stacy Leach also explains how residents can donate, get help feeding their animals, and support a September fundraiser honoring Amy McFarland.
