VDOT : District Traffic Alert for September 14 (blueridgelife.com) — Expect changing traffic patterns around Winchester starting Monday, with Route 7 seeing lane closures between Ross Street and Burnt Factory Road and ongoing work on I-81, Route 37, and nearby primary routes. VDOT crews will also restrict lanes overnight on Route 340/522 (Winchester Road) near Front Royal, so plan extra time for commutes, shopping trips, and school runs that use these corridors.
   

2. LVWA Students Published in Spotlight Magazine (thewinchestergazette.com) — Four adult students from Literacy Volunteers Winchester Area have had seven creative writing pieces published in the 2025 edition of Spotlight magazine, highlighting local adult learners' achievements. The article also explains LVWA's free literacy, GED, and citizenship-prep programs serving Winchester-area adults and underscores how improved literacy can reduce poverty and strengthen the Northern Shenandoah Valley community.
   

3. JHHS Searched After Safety Concern; Charges Sought for Teen (thewinchestergazette.com) — Winchester police searched John Handley High School Friday afternoon after a reported safety concern, but authorities say there was never an immediate or credible threat to students or staff. A student is facing potential charges, and Winchester Public Schools notified families while allowing the school day and dismissal to continue on schedule.
   

4. 100 Buffalo Trail 9/11 10/13 10/20/26 (winchesterstar.com) — A trustee's sale has been scheduled for a property at 100 Buffalo Trail in Winchester, with a foreclosure auction set for November 16, 2026, at noon outside the Frederick County Circuit Court on North Kent Street. Interested bidders must bring a 10% cash or certified-check deposit and be prepared to settle within 15 days under the all-cash terms.
   

5. Washington County football; Shepherd sports (localnews1.org) — Shepherd University's cross country teams raced at Shenandoah University's SU Twilight meet at Kernstown Battlefield in Winchester, with Hagerstown's Seander Emmerson leading the men and Zoe Boyd pacing the women to a strong team finish. Local runners and fans may recognize the Kernstown course, which drew collegiate competitors from across the region and highlighted Winchester as a regular host for fall racing.
