Police: Shoplifter Walks Out of Walmart With Two TVs

Suspect brandished scissors when confronted by employee, say Prince William County police.

A shoplifter at the Walmart in Dumfries drove away with two TV sets Thursday evening after threatening to stab an employee with a pair of scissors, according to Prince William County police.

Officers responded at 8:39 p.m. to the Walmart at 17041 Jefferson Davis Highway (Route 1) to investigate the theft, a Prince William police report said. The investigation revealed that an unknown man entered the store and went to the electronics section, where he was seen loading the two televisions, valued at around $400, into a shopping cart.

The man then went to the clothing area of the store, where he cut off the security devices from the TVs, the police report said. As the man went to leave the store, an employee attempted to stop him by grabbing ahold of the shopping cart and asking for a receipt.

At that point, the man pulled out a pair of scissors and attempted to stab the employee in the hand. No contact was made and no injuries were reported, the police report said. The suspect was last seen getting into a black Toyota RAV4 and leaving the area.
