Prince William police attempted to serve a warrant at 3:10 p.m. Saturday at Brommer’s home in Dumfries in the stolen vehicle case, according to a police report. An investigation found that the victim’s vehicle, a 2007 Toyota Highlander, was originally reported stolen Feb. 9 from the 12900 block of Valleywood Drive in Lake Ridge.
On Friday, the SUV was located and privately towed from South Park Court in Dale City for parking in a non-designated area. Once at the lot, the towing company realized the vehicle was stolen and contacted police.
Later that day, police said, the Highlander was towed to Lustine Toyota on Route 1 in Woodbridge, where it was stolen a second time around 3:52 p.m. Friday. The police identified Brommer as a suspect in the theft, and warrants were obtained for his arrest.
As officers attempted to arrest Brommer on Saturday at his home on Fort Sumter Court in Dumfries, the SUV was spotted around the corner, in the area of Old Triangle Road and Williamstown Road. When the officers activated their emergency lights to stop the vehicle, the driver ignored them and fled at a high rate of speed, police said.
The SUV sped off to the area of Swans Creek Lane, near the Potomac River, where the driver, Brommer, and a male passenger fled on foot, police said. Multiple officers established a perimeter in the area as two officers with police dogs and a Fairfax County police helicopter aided in the search.
Both suspects were eventually located and arrested without further incident, police said.
