Woodbridge Double Shooting: Suspect Identified

A suspect who has been incarcerated in Fairfax County has been charged in a 2023 double shooting with one death.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A suspect has been charged with murder in the 2023 shooting that killed one person and injured another in Woodbridge, according to Prince William County Police.

Zaire Lee Davis, 21, of Woodbridge, was charged with murder, malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He is currently incarcerated in Fairfax County on separate charges. A court date for the Woodbridge offenses is scheduled for March 4.

The charges relate to the Jan. 16, 2023 shooting of two men in the 13900 block of Richmond Highway. Police say the suspect fired a gun into a group of people, striking two men. The gunfire injured one 22-year-old man and killed 27-year-old Akeem Rashaud Williams. Police believe the involved parties were acquainted, and the shooting was tied to an ongoing dispute and previous altercation.

Despite officers and a K-9 team searching the area, police did not identify the suspect after the shooting. Police later identified Davis as the suspect through forensic evidence from the scene. No other suspects are being sought in the shooting.

Williams had also been charged in a June 2023 shooting and a separate robbery in Fairfax County.
