1 Man Charged In Connection With Deadly Seattle Shooting
King County prosecutors said the man was not believed to be the aggressor, but fired several shots into a crowded intersection.

SEATTLE, WA — King County prosecutors charged one man Monday in connection with a shootout that killed one woman and injured seven other people in downtown Seattle last Wednesday. Two other suspects are still on the run.
Prosecutors said 21-year-old Jamel L. Jackson was arrested at Harborview Medical Center after he was treated for a gunshot wound. Detectives said they recognized him on surveillance video shooting a handgun during the Jan. 22 incident. According to court documents, Jackson admitted firing shots and said he disposed of the weapon, which has not been recovered. Investigators said several bullet casings at the scene matched the type of gun he reported firing.
Detectives believe at least 20 shots were fired following an argument between three men in front of a McDonald's at 3rd Avenue and Pine Street. The two other suspects, Marquise Tolbert and William Tolliver, are still at-large. Investigators said all three men had extensive criminal histories and gang connections.

A spokesman for the prosecutor's office said preliminary information indicates Jackson was not the aggressor in last Wednesday's shooting but noted he fired a gun several times into a crowded intersection. He faces first-degree charges of unlawful possession of a firearm.
Jackson's bail was initially set at $50,000. The prosecutor's office asked the amount be increased due to the defendant being "likely to commit a violent offense if released." The judge set bail at $250,000 during the hearing Monday afternoon.

The prosecutor's office said Jackson has been prohibited from having a gun at least four times by the court. He was previously convicted on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm in Jan. and Oct. 2018.
Two people injured in last Wednesday's shooting remain hospitalized at Harborview Medical Center: a 55-year-old woman in serious condition, and a 32-year-old man in satisfactory condition. A 9-year-old boy, whose femur was shattered in the shooting, was released from the hospital Friday night. The Medical Examiner's Office has identified the 50-year-old woman killed as Tanya Jackson.
