Man Shot Aboard Metro Bus In Seattle Dies

The 51-year-old victim was shot Saturday morning by an 88-year-old man.

SEATTLE, WA - A man shot while aboard King County Metro bus on Saturday morning has died, according to Seattle police. The 51-year-old victim was taken to Harborview immediately after the shooting, but died Saturday night.

The shooting happened around 11:15 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of 4th Avenue South and South Walker Street. The victim, identified as Ronnie Tyler, reportedly shoved an 88-year-old man who was trying to get on the bus. The elderly man turned around and shot the victim once.

The elderly man fell and hit his head while trying to get off the bus. Both men were taken to Harborview with serious injuries. Tyler died of a single gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to the King County Medical Examiner.

Seattle detectives are still investigating the incident and no arrests have been made so far, SPD spokesman Det. Patrick Michaud said.

Saturday's killing was the third homicide in Seattle so far in 2019. On Jan. 6, Buckey Wolfe, 26, killed his brother with a sword, according to police. On Jan. 12, a man was shot and killed in the Capitol Hill neighborhood near the intersection of Broadway and Pike Street.
