• Commissioners approve Serenity Ridge subdivision (wvnstv.com) — Raleigh County commissioners meeting in Beckley have approved funding for 100 new street sign posts to help emergency responders find homes faster. They also signed off on the 500-acre Serenity Ridge subdivision near Flatwoods and Bragg roads, adding 108 lots and 10 new streets, which officials say will further improve emergency access for nearby residents.
   

• Beckley Fire Department offering free emergency training (woay.com) — Beckley residents can sign up now for a free six-week Community Emergency Response Training course offered by the Beckley Fire Department this fall at Station Three. Thursday evening sessions will cover disaster preparedness, fire safety, and basic first aid, with hands-on practice and class sizes limited to about 20 people. Interested residents can reserve a spot by calling the department directly.
