1. Woman pleads guilty to DUI, severely injuring another driver (wsaz.com) — A Charleston woman has pleaded guilty to DUI causing serious bodily injury after a two-vehicle crash on Ruthledge Road in April left another driver severely hurt and hospitalized. Deputies reported clear signs of alcohol impairment at the scene, and she now faces a possible prison term of two to ten years and a substantial fine when sentenced November 5.
   

2. Vandalia Health hosts nursing expo in Charleston (wowktv.com) — Nursing students and locals in Charleston just got a direct line to careers with Vandalia Health at a Wednesday expo hosted at the CAMC Center for Learning and Research. Attendees met department representatives, explored externships and tuition assistance, and learned how to transition into jobs and residency programs, all aimed at growing nursing opportunities right here in Charleston.
   

3. RE: PN#LMD-146-2026 #WVG613119 (journal-news.net) — Charleston residents can review and comment on a state water pollution permit application, with documents available at the Department of Environmental Protection's 57th Street SE office. The notice concerns stormwater discharges from a Martinsburg steel mill, and locals have until October 9 to submit written feedback or request a public hearing.
   

4. Mountain State Collectors Convention 2026 (wvnstv.com) — Charleston collectors and hobbyists can look forward to the Mountain State Collectors Convention coming to the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center September 18–20, 2026. With more than 200 vendor tables of sports cards, TCG, comics, 3D printing and more, the multi-day event promises a packed Exhibit & Convention Hall and easy online ticket access for local fans.
   

5. West Virginia updates youth hunting rules (wvnews.com) — New statewide youth hunting rules, announced from Charleston, remove the minimum age for special youth seasons while keeping strict supervision requirements for hunters under 15. Teens 15 to 17 must meet full licensing rules, and all youth must report big game through their own DNR accounts, which Charleston families can set up and manage online.
