Here's The Most Dangerous Intersection in Wisconsin

A new study names the deadliest intersection in each state. In Wisconsin, a mother and 11-month-old daughter died in early October here:

MILWAUKEE, WI — In late 2017, police said a 22-year-old man was driving his Honda CRV westbound on W. Capitol Drive when he disregarded a red stop light and struck a Lexus.

Police reported that the victims inside the Lexus, a 27-year-old woman and an 11-month-old girl, were pronounced dead at the scene.

It was just the latest tragedy at Wisconsin's deadliest intersection: W. Capitol Drive and W. 35th St. N. A new study using data from Badintersections.com and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration identified Wisconsin's most dangerous intersection based on automobile crashes and pedestrian accidents.

According to the Groth Law Firm in Milwaukee, the intersection of Capitol Drive W and 35th Street North is one of the most complex intersections in Milwaukee. Both directions of traffic have multiple lanes, a merging lane from 35th to Capitol, and merging lanes from Roosevelt Drive onto Capitol.

According to data from the National Safety Council, 2016 was the deadliest year on American roads in nearly a decade, with more than 40,200 Americans dying in motor vehicle crashes. It is also estimated that 4.6 million Americans were injured in motor vehicle accidents in that same time period.

The infographic reveals the most dangerous intersections are found in major cities. The top five most populated cities—NYC, LA, Chicago, Houston and Phoenix—are home to the most dangerous intersections in their respective states.
