'Serial' Subject Adnan Syed Hired By Georgetown University
Adnan Syed, whose murder conviction was recently vacated after he served more than 20 years in prison for the 1999 death of Hae Min Lee, has been hired by Georgetown University as an associate with the school's Prisons and Justice Initiative.
Retired Teacher With Cancer Serenaded By Former Students
More than 100 alumni from Rockville's now-closed Robert E. Peary High School serenaded their former English and drama teacher with Christmas carols outside his Germantown home on Saturday. Vincent Gibbs, now 82, is currently battling cancer.
Man Unfit To Stand Trial For Fatal Shooting At Shell Station: Court
A Silver Spring man charged with first degree murder in the fatal shooting of a Shell Station clerk earlier this month was found to be not mentally fit to stand trial, according to news reports. During a bond hearing, Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy said that 31-year-old Torrey Moore was "a danger to others," according to WTOP.
BWI Airport Security Seizes Record Number Of Guns In 2022
Transportation Security Administration officers have stopped a record number of travelers from boarding airplanes with guns in their carry-on luggage again this year, the agency said. BWI Airport is part of this spike with 33 firearms seized there this year so far.
