Alabama Tops 1,000 New COVID-19 Cases In One Day
Just two days after reporting a record number of new COVID-19 cases, Alabama sets another daily record for new cases.
MONTGOMERY, AL — Just two days after posting a record number of new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, the Alabama Department of Public Health confirmed that record was smashed Friday when more than 1,000 new cases were reported.
The ADPH has confirmed 6,733 new cases of COVID-19 in the last two weeks. The state has also reported 768 deaths from the virus. In all, 24,221 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed statewide, out of 292,872 tests administered. An estimated 13,508 patients have recovered from the virus.

New cases have skyrocketed in the last week in Alabama, which experts say can likely be attributed to Memorial Day weekend, wherein residents flocked to the beaches, bars and restaurants after they were reopened.

- June 6: 455 new cases
- June 7: 430 new cases
- June 8: 488 new cases
- June 9: 562 new cases
- June 10: 849 new cases
- June 11: 720 new cases
- June 12: 1,010 new cases
The counties in Alabama with the most cases of COVID-19 as of Saturday:
- Mobile County: 2,660 cases; 129 deaths
- Montgomery County: 2,644 cases; 68 deaths
- Jefferson County: 2,410 cases; 117 deaths
