The new 12-member advisory group, modeled partly on Auburn's approach to Alabama's HB 580, would change how faculty from each college communicate concerns and recommendations to university leadership.

Red Etheredge marks 94 years (southalabamian.com) — Jacksonville readers are reminded how deeply Jamie "Red" Etheredge has woven himself into local life, from serving on Jacksonville's Industrial Development Board to chairing Jacksonville State University's trustees. Now 94, the longtime civic and business leader is celebrated for decades of public service, community involvement, and his visible presence at JSU events alongside his wife, Donna.
3. Jacksonville State University Names Inaugural 22 Under 40 Young Alumni Class (calhounjournal.com) — Jacksonville residents connected to Jacksonville State University may soon see familiar faces honored in the school's new 22 Under 40 Young Alumni program, which debuted this fall. The recognition highlights graduates under 40 for professional success and community service, with nominations for the 2027 class opening Oct. 1 and running through Nov. 15.

Authorities have not yet identified the remains and are checking for links to a missing person case, while urging the public to avoid speculation until forensic testing is complete.
