More Flash Flooding Possible Today Across Tuscaloosa County

The National Weather Service says additional flooding could be possible for the area today after widespread flooding over the weekend

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The National Weather Service office in Birmingham says more flash flooding could be possible for parts of Tuscaloosa County on Tuesday through the afternoon hours.

This prompted NWS to issue a flood advisory for Tuscaloosa County until 1 p.m. Tuesday.

NWS Birmingham said heavy showers are developing across northern Hale and southern Tuscaloosa counties at present, moving roughly 10-15 mph and expected to bring heavy rain with a potential for flash flooding.

The latest advisory comes after widespread flooding across Tuscaloosa County on Saturday, which inundated parts of downtown Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama campus.

The flooding on Saturday also resulted in the death of one man who drowned when his SUV was swept away by flood waters. According to preliminary rain gauge data, some parts of Tuscaloosa received five or more inches of rain Saturday in less than two hours.
