Alameda Apartment Fire Displaces Five
Fire officials say the apartment was above a business.

Firefighters are investigating the cause of an apartment fire in Alameda on Tuesday night that displaced five residents. Crews responded at 8:09 p.m. to a report of smoke inside a building in the 1500 block of Ninth Street. Crews located a fire inside an unoccupied living unit on the second floor of the two-story building.
The apartment was above a business, according to fire officials. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire by 8:32 p.m., fire officials said. The fire was contained to the one apartment, but other units and the business below sustained smoke and heat damage.
There were no reported injuries, but five residents were displaced by the blaze and were being assisted by the American Red Cross, fire officials said.
