Livermore Police Crack Down on Memorial Day DUI Drivers
During the enforcement efforts, officers look for signs of alcohol, drug impairment.

Livermore Police have been out in force since Friday morning as part of a statewide DUI enforcement effort spanning the Memorial Day weekend. Since Friday officers have arrested five drivers suspected of drunken driving, according to the Livermore Police Facebook page.
The enforcement effort comes just weeks after the Livermore community was stunned following a tragic fatal collision involving a suspected drunken driver. On May 2, Esperanza Morales-Rodriguez of Seaside and her 14-month-old daughter, Ulidia Perez-Morales were killed after police officials say Brian Jones of Livermore lost control of his car while driving under the influence of alcohol, crashing into an apartment complex in the 900 block of Murrieta Boulevard. Two boys were also injured during the collision.
The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged Jones, 35, with two murder counts, and two counts of felony driving under the influence of alcohol, causing injury, as well as multiple victim and excessive speed clauses. Livermore police said Jones had attended the Livermore Wine Country Festival before the collision.
