Firefighters from the Alameda Fire Department were sent this week to help with the firefighting efforts in Trinity County, Alameda Fire Captain James Colburn said.

“The Alameda Fire engine and crew deployed on Monday as part of a strike team to the Mad River Complex fires,” Colburn said. “Upon their arrival, the Strike Team was assigned to protect structures from the surrounding fires. These fires were caused by lightning last week as storms rolled through Northern California.”

“The Mad River Complex is a series of seven lightning fires that started on July 30,” a statement posted on the U.S. Forest service website said.
