The bird has been taken to a local biologist.

A seagull wrapped in fishing line and caught high up the trees was rescued after fire personnel used an aerial truck ladder to lower the bird to safety last week.

Fire officials say the bird was about 60 feet high in two trees on Otis and Westline drives when it was discovered by a resident.

“Alameda Police were called and they called us,” Fire Captain Jim Colburn said. “The bird was wrapped in the fishing line and the line was caught in the trees. Firefighters were able to carefully snip the wires and lower the bird safely down the ladder without injuring it.”

After the bird was freed from the fishing line, it was taken to a local biologist for further treatment, according to the Alameda Fire Facebook page.
