Dr. McPhetridge was appointed as Interim Superintendent in August, 2014, after former superintendent Kirsten Vital left Alameda to become superintendent with the Capistrano Unified School District. Prior to stepping into the interim role, McPhetridge had served as AUSD’s assistant superintendent (2010 to 2013); principal of the Alameda Science and Technology Institute (2005-2008); director of secondary and career technical education (also 2005-2008); and instructional vice principal at Alameda High School (2000-2003). He also worked as interim director of student programs and services at the Alameda County Office of Education.
“We applaud Dr. McPhetridge’s commitment to transparency and collaboration,” said Board President Barbara Kahn. “With this appointment, and that of Board Member Phil Hu, we believe we have now stabilized leadership in the district and can move forward with the true work of educating our students.”
