The Alameda Free Library main branch is hosting a Ancient Artifact's Medieval Tournament re-enactment for children in 4th -8th grade Thursday March 17th from 3:30-4:30. The medieval tournament is a 45 minute historical re-entactment featuring choreographed combat between three fully armored "knights" from different periods, Ancient Rome to the High Middle Ages. These visiting knights explain the medieval arms race and the development of the weapons and armor. They will also demonstrate how the tournaments evolved from their origin in judicial dules to the full-on sporting events they became. At the end of the presentation, there will be a quesiton a d answer period. Space is limited for this a free presentation and reservations are required.
