Worm Composting Workshop

Why compost with worms? Because it's super cool and efficient! Worm composting is a method for recycling food waste into a rich, dark, earth-smelling soil conditioner. The great advantage of worm composting is that it can be done indoors and outdoors, allowing for small space year-round composting: apartment dwellers and urbanites rejoice! There will be a demonstration with some hands-on worm coddling, information on where to find worms and their houses, and worm composting starter kits. Attendees are encouraged to bring an opaque Tupperware tote (with a lid) and extra newspapers if they want to begin their own.

Alameda Free Library and Ploughshares Nursery are proud to present “Green Thumbs, Green Minds”, a new ongoing program. The first Saturday of each month will feature a gardening demonstration at the Main Library.
