Cal Football Assistant Coach Put on Leave After Solicitation Arrest in Oakland

University of California at Berkeley’s football recruiting coordinator and wide receivers coach has been placed on administrative leave after he was arrested for allegedly soliciting an officer in Oakland last week during a prostitution sting. Pierre Ingram, 30, was one of five “johns” who were arrested last Thursday in the anti-human trafficking operation in Oakland, Alameda County prosecutors said.

Ingram was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of solicitation and is scheduled to be arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court on May 15, according to prosecutors. Cal’s athletics department said in a statement, “We are aware of the situation and at this time the university is in the process of gathering more information.”

The department’s statement said, “We were first made aware of the situation prior to the spring game,” which was held on campus last Saturday.

“Coach Ingram did not participate in the spring game and has been placed on administrative leave while the university looks into the matter,” Cal officials said. University officials said they will make further comments after their investigation is completed.

According to the Cal football team’s website, Ingram is married and has two children, a daughter and a son. Ingram was born in Dothan, Alabama, graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and currently is pursuing a masters of science degree in sports science from State University of New York at Cortland, according to the website.

Ingram was the running back coach at Louisiana Tech University under head coach Sonny Dykes and joined Dykes when he came to Cal in December 2012 to become its head coach, according to the website.
