Suspect Vandalizes Mural Honoring Immigrants In Berkeley: Police (patch.com) — Berkeley residents are being asked for tips after a mural honoring immigrant experiences in Central Berkeley was splattered with white paint, along with a nearby car. Police say there is no evidence so far that any group was specifically targeted, but acknowledge community anxiety and are continuing to investigate the vandalism near Sacramento Street and Dwight Way.

Police: Shoplifter attacked Berkeley CVS clerk with bear spray (berkeleyside.org) — A CVS employee and a 76-year-old customer were treated by Berkeley Fire medics after a woman allegedly returned to the North Berkeley CVS on Shattuck Avenue and used bear spray, according to police. Staff had earlier asked her to leave over suspected shoplifting, and officers are still seeking the suspect as of Thursday.
