Rifle Seized From Man On Probation
Hayward Police stopped a driver for a vehicle equipment violation and eventually arrested him.

HAYWARD, CA — Hayward Police took a man into custody for multiple suspected crimes, including possession of a rifle while on probation. He also had multiple warrants for his arrest.
The case began as a traffic stop for equipment violations, according to police. A record check of the driver found him to be driving without a license.
As officers prepared to cite the driver and tow the vehicle because he was unlicensed, the driver took off running. Officers caught up with him and arrested him.
Officers then searched the vehicle before it was towed and found an unregistered rifle inside the car, along with drug paraphernalia.
Officers later learned that the man had provided them with a fake name. His true identify revealed that he was on probation which prohibited him from possessing any firearms.
