Here are the latest local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Danville.

DANVILLE, CA — Contra Costa County is ramping up its testing capacity for people worried they have been infected by the new coronavirus.

Tests are free, but appointments must be made in advance. Residents can make appointments to visit testing centers in Concord, Pittsburg, San Pablo and Martinez.

As of Friday morning 20 Danville residents, or 46 in 100,000 people, and 17 Alamo residents, or 115 in 100,000 people, were ill with COVID-19, according to the county.

Good news: Though 17 more CoCo residents tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, just five more residents tested positive on Thursday, the county said. That's the lowest increase all month and no deaths were reported Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Help for businesses: Contra Costa County has launched a call center to help small businesses and workers impacted by the pandemic.

In other news: A Livermore Target employee tested positive for COVID-19. The store has been deep cleaned and sanitized, and measures are in place to protect workers and guests, Target said.

Stay home: Contra Costa County remains under an extended shelter-in-place order through May 3 and schools will close for the rest of this year. Residents may leave the house for essential matters. California law maintains that anyone who violates the order can be punished with a $1,000 fine and/or jail time.
