Sonoma County Wind Gusts Among Bay Area's Highest Monday
Mount Saint Helena West, Bodega Bay, Hood Mountain and the Healdsburg Hills all saw some of the strongest wind gusts in the Bay Area.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Sonoma County saw some of the highest winds in the greater San Francisco Bay Area Monday amid a red flag warning.
Mount Saint Helena West registered a peak gust of 53 mph Monday, according to the National Weather Service Bay Area. It was tied with Santa Rita for second place in a list of peak 24-hour wind gusts published Monday night.
The windiest spot to be? Near the Los Vaqueros Reservoir in eastern Contra Costa County, according to the weather service. Pine Flat Road northeast of Healdsburg and Mount Diablo in Contra Costa County were hit with the region's third-highest winds Monday at 49 mph.

Also in Sonoma County, wind gusts topped 46 mph on Hood Mountain, 42 mph in the northern Healdsburg Hills, 42 mph at Bodega Bay and 41 mph in Santa Rosa.

High winds were expected to continue Tuesday in the Bay Area's highest elevations. Officials allowed the red flag warning to remain in place, meaning any wildfires sparked could quickly spread due to dry, windy conditions.
