Walbridge Fire 98% Contained; Full Containment Expected Oct. 1

Cal Fire expects full containment of the LNU Lightning Complex Fires, the fourth-largest wildfire in California state history, by Oct. 1.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — The Walbridge Fire in Sonoma County was 98 percent contained at 55,209 acres Wednesday evening, while the 2,360-acre Meyers Fire in Sonoma County was 100 percent contained, Cal Fire said in the final official update on the LNU Lightning Complex Fires.

Cal Fire expects full containment of the LNU Lightning Complex Fires, the fourth-largest wildfire in California state history, by Oct. 1.

The fires broke on Aug. 17; as of Wednesday evening, the complex of fires had charred 363,220 acres and destroyed 1,491 homes and other structures in Napa, Sonoma, Lake, Solano, Yolo and Colusa counties.

The largest of the blazes, the Hennessey Fire in Napa County, was 305,651 acres and 98 percent contained Wednesday.

Five civilians were killed in the fires, three in Napa County and two in Solano.

A firefighter and four civilians suffered injuries.

The cause of the fires remains under investigation.
