LOS ANGELES, CA — As the weekend wraps up, we've rounded up all the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.

But before we jump into Southern California’s top stories, Golden State residents should know that fall begins this week, and it will actually feel like it. Temperatures across Southern California will be well below normal to start the week. Coastal communities will see highs in the 70s, and inland communities will have highs in the low 80s, according to the National Weather Service.

If you feel like you need a getaway as the work week gets underway, here's some inspiration: Passengers aboard a Southwest flight from Long Beach to Honolulu Friday were surprised with free ukeleles and in-flight ukelele lessons courtesy of The Guitar Center. Check out the video here.

Also this week, Sherri Papini, the California mother of two who admitted to faking her own sensational kidnapping so that she could visit an old flame in Orange County, is slated to be sentenced Monday. Papini disappeared from her Northern California home for 22 days only to reemerge battered, branded and in chains with a wild tail about two abductors.

Prosecutors are adamant that she sees the inside of a jail cell.

“Papini’s kidnapping hoax was deliberate, well planned, and sophisticated,” prosecutors wrote in their court filing. And she was still falsely telling people she was kidnapped, prosecutors said, months after she pleaded guilty in April to staging the abduction and lying to the FBI about it.

“The nation is watching the outcome of Papini’s sentencing hearing,” Assistant U.S. Attorneys Veronica Alegria and Shelley Weger wrote. “The public needs to know that there will be more than a slap on the wrist for committing financial fraud and making false statements to law enforcement, particularly when those false statements result in the expenditure of substantial resources and implicate innocent people.”
