NOVATO, CA — A Novato woman is reportedly missing after a gunman opened fire Sunday night at a country music festival in Las Vegas, killing at least 59 people and injuring 527 in the deadliest mass shooting in modern United States history.

Stacee Etcheber, a hairstylist and mother of two, was at the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival outside the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino with her husband, San Francisco Police Officer Vinnie Etcheber, and friends when the shooting occurred, according to a report by KTVU Fox 2.

In posts on Facebook, Vincent's brother and Stacee's brother-in-law Al Etcheber said the couple was separated in the chaos following the shooting. Vincent, he said, helped injured people to the hospital. Stacee has been missing ever since the tragic event.

"We are sending our deepest condolences and sympathies to the hundreds of families affected by this senseless act of gun violence," San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee said in a statement.

"Our nation needs stricter, commonsense gun laws," Lee said. "We cannot continue to play politics with American lives."

Gov. Jerry Brown also released a statement and said Capitol flags would be flown at half-staff in recognition of the victims and their families.

"Our prayers and deepest sympathies are with the families and loved ones of those killed and injured in last night's tragic and senseless shooting, and we stand with the people of Nevada in this difficult time," Brown said.
