Letter to the Editor: Preschool Threatened with Closure

Low enrollment is troublesome for Pacific Palisades Recreation Center's preschool program.

Hey neighbors! Do you know that the Pacific Palisades Rec Center may possibly close down its only preschool program due to low enrollment? My son loves his school, I love it too, but there are no other kids currently enrolled! I have no idea why either.

It’s pretty much the most affordable childcare available anywhere in the area for 3-5 year olds. You pay monthly and it’s $150 to $200 per month for 4 days a week, for 3 hours a day. That breaks down to $4/hour for childcare.

This is a great little program. They do basic kinder readiness like colors shapes letters and numbers. For the older kids who are interested they do basic reading and math. But mostly they play, do activities in the gym, do puzzles, make arts and craft projects, coloring, read stories, sing songs, play in the playground, and once a week they walk to the public library for story time.

I’m baffled by how there are no other children enrolled and I can only guess it is due to no one knowing about it. There is nothing online about the program other than the little blurb on page 12 of the park’s seasonal brochure.

Enrollment is in person. Please come by or call the Rec Center for more info! I don’t want to loose my son’s preschool!!!
