Native American Leadership in the Santa Monica Mountains

The Chautauqua Series - Dr. Gordon will talk about the lasting impact of Chumash Chief Charlie Cooke. The story includes the collaborative leadership on behalf of Indian sites and parks—in some cases one and the same. Presented by Dr. Mary Contini Gordon, author of TIQ SLO’W: The Making of a Modern Day Chief. Dennis Garcia, Chumash elder, will start the evening with a blessing and add his perspectives to the story. Meet at Woodland Hall. 1.5 hours.
