Firefighters Save Christmas for Pleasanton Family Displaced by Devastating Fire
Fire officials said the blaze was likely sparked by an electrical short.
PLEASANTON, CA — An electrical short is the likely cause of a devastating fire that displaced a Pleasanton family of five Sunday afternoon, Livemore-Pleasanton Fire Department officials said. The fire, which was reported in the 4600 block of Mason Street, also damaged the family’s Christmas presents just a week before the holiday.
Fire crews made swift work of the blaze and had it extinguished in about 20 minutes. However, the garage sustained heavy damage and smoke damaged the rest of the home, making it uninhabitable.
After knocking down the fire, firefighters replaced the damaged gifts through the Toys for Tots program.
