Film Festival to Save Earth's Oceans Kicks Off In San Francisco

The 55 films will be shown at 2 theaters in San Francisco and one in San Rafael.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — An international film festival kicks off Thursday in San Francisco with the aim of saving the Earth's oceans, one film at a time, organizers said.

The first film of the 16th Annual International Ocean Film Festival will screen at 4 p.m. at the Cowell Theater at Fort Mason Center.

Fifty-five films, including four world premieres and four U.S. premieres, will be shown among three theaters in the Bay Area.

Besides the Cowell Theater, films will be shown Saturday at the Roxie Theater in San Francisco and at the Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael.

For the first time at the festival, two virtual reality films will be shown.
