Super Bowl Street Closures And Transit Options: See Which Bay Area Routes Are Affected
The big game's almost here, and a number of roads will be closed in San Francisco and the South Bay over the next few days.
BAY AREA — The eyes (and cars) of the world will be on the Bay Area this Sunday as Super Bowl LX is held at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. Due to security concerns and a number of smaller celebrations, there will be several street closures in Santa Clara, San Jose, and San Francisco. Here are the areas affected.
Santa Clara
- Jan. 5 - Feb. 22: Stars & Stripes Drive
- Jan. 28 - Feb. 13: Tasman Drive between Calle Del Sol and Great America Parkway
- Feb. 8: Great America Parkway between Patrick Henry Drive and Bunker Hill Lane

San Jose

- Feb. 2-9: Eastbound and westbound San Carlos Street from S. Almaden Boulevard to S. Market Street, southbound S. Market Street from San Carlos Street to Viola Avenue, and all of Viola Avenue.
- Feb. 4-5: Northbound and southbound Barack Obama Boulevard from Santa Street to San Fernando Street.
- Until Feb. 7: Eastbound and westbound E. Humboldt Street from S. 7th Street to S. 10th Street.
- Feb. 4-8: Eastbound and westbound E. Santa Clara Street from 4th Street to 8th Street.

San Francisco
Moscone Center (Jan. 30 - Feb 10)
Closed 24/7:
- Howard Street between 3rd and 5th
- 4th Street northbound between Folsom and Howard
Closed daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- 3rd Street between Mission and Howard
- 4th Street between Mission and Howard Folsom Street between 3rd and 4th
The Pearl/NFL Culture Club (Feb. 1-9)
- 3rd Street between 19th and 20th
NFL Honors Event (Feb. 5)
- All of Palace Drive closed near the Palace of Fine Arts
Hibernia / Taste of the NFL (Feb. 5-7)
- Jones Street between Golden Gate & Market
- Golden Gate Greenway closed daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Grace Cathedral event: (Feb. 6)
- California Street between Jones and Taylor
- Taylor Street just south of the cathedral
Civic Center events:
- Grove Street between Larkin and Polk (Feb. 2-9)
- Polk Street between Hayes and McAllister (Feb. 5-7)
- Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place (Feb. 7)

Transit
BART, MUNI, VTA, and Caltrain all plan to run normal schedules, though there will likely be delays or detours due to crowds and increased security. Riders are advised to plan extra travel time and check real-time alerts.
- VTA said that it will run extra light rail and bus return service after the game.
- MUNI is rerouting routes like the 5, 5R, 6 and 27 around closure zones for part of the week.
- BART and Caltrain will run on their normal weekend schedules.
