Widespread Power Outages, Mudslide Hit Marin Co.
Two homes destroyed, one person injured, evacuations in one city as North Bay among areas pummeled hardest by storm, officials said.
MARIN COUNTY, CA – As a winter storm moved through the region Thursday, nearly 40,000 Pacific Gas and Electric customers across the Bay Area, including nearly 4,000 in Marin County, are without power. And a Sausalito mudslide destroyed two homes, injured one resident and has crews searching for other victims, according to officials.
PG&E officials said 39,880 customers are without power as of 4 a.m. as high winds and continuous rainfall have pounded the region since late Tuesday night.
The North Bay was hit the hardest, as 15,200 customers don't have power. Vallejo was one of the hardest hit areas, with 6,920 customers currently without power.

In Sausalito, a house on Sausalito Boulevard slid into the residence below on Crescent Avenue, according to Natalie Poston, assistant to the Sausalito Police Department chief. A woman, the sole occupant of the house in the 400 block of Sausalito Boulevard, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Marin General Hospital, Poston said.
The flow knocked the two houses from their foundations and buried up to five vehicles, along with damaging gas and power lines in the area, officials said. Fifty homes in the area were evacuated and PG&E is at the scene, Poston said. Crews are searching for other possible victims.

Marin County outages this morning included:
- 304 in the Nicasio and Taylor State Park areas.
- 1,754 in Fairfax, Woodacre, Galinas areas.
- 1,083 in Stinson and Bolinas region.
- 208 near Mill Valley.
- 263 near Sausalito.
- 300 near Ross.
- 111 near San Anselmo.
Power earlier this morning was out for hundreds of customers in the Novato area, however, the Novato Police Department reported at approximately 8:30 a.m. that service was restored to most customers. Several roads in the city, meanwhile are closed due to flooding.
Novato police issued at least one shelter-in-place order in the city early Thursday morning due to flooding across the city. Residents in Paper Mill Creek Court were told to stay inside
their homes due to "significant" flooding, a police dispatcher confirmed. Police weren't able to verify how serious the flooding is or if evacuations are taking place.
Elsewhere in the region, the peninsula has 8,365 customers without power, San Francisco 6,390, the East Bay 6,200 and the South Bay 3,725. No further information were immediately available.
