Flying High: Oakland Airport Passenger Traffic Spikes
Taking a trip? You're not alone. More passengers are choosing Oakland International Airport.

People boarded planes at Oakland International Airport 885,378 times in March, which is an 8.6 percent increase over March 2014, according to airport officials.
Airline seat capacity also increased 6.7 percent to 1,131,288 seats. The percentage of available seats which are filled, or the “average load factor,” for commercial operations increased from 76.9 percent to 78.3 percent, according to OAK spokesman Keoni Wagner.
Cargo volume also increased to 96.2 million pounds, up 3.2 percent from last year according to Wagner. BART ridership to the OAK station was 81,609 in March, which represents a 38.4 percent increase from the Air BART
bus connector service which was in place last year.

Port of Oakland’s Director of Aviation Deborah Ale Flint said in a statement that passenger traffic has been strong at OAK during the first quarter of the year, and may increase due to the addition of five new routes in the coming months.
