San Leandro Man Arrested After Police Chase Saturday
Police officials say Thomas Gaide, 48, was arrested on suspicion of fleeing from the officer.

Police arrested a San Leandro man last weekend after officers said he led them on a chase through city neighborhoods. At 9:40 p.m. Saturday, an officer was patrolling the area of Farallon Drive and Griffith Street when he saw the driver of a Jeep Patriot chasing a Honda Accord and then unsafely pass it in opposing lanes of traffic, police said.
When the officer approached the vehicles and turned on his emergency lights at Catalina Street and Farallon Drive to investigate, the Jeep sped off, police said. The officer pursued the Jeep through several nearby streets and a residential neighborhood, but the Jeep’s driver was eventually able to elude the officer, according to police. However, minutes later, police received reports of two suspects fleeing through nearby yards, police said. Police located Thomas Gaide, 48, of San Leandro, walking with another man in the area of Driftwood Way.
Officers also located the abandoned Jeep and witnesses were able to identify Gaide as the driver of the vehicle, police said. He was arrested on suspicion of fleeing from the officer, police said.
